2011 Blueberry Picking
We've worked all year to bring you fresh you pick blueberries. we stuggled with poor weather, blueberry pests, and the economy, and now we're finally nearing an opening date; the last week of July.
Due to the colder wetter spring, it would be better if you wait until August.
Our prices remain the same as last year - we want to help a litte due to the poor economy.
2011 prices: $1.50 per pound for U-Pick blueberries and $3.25 for picked blueberries.

The Best Blueberry Year Ever
I thought it was just me, but every visitor to the farm is saying it, "This is the best blueberry year ever." Picking is fast, large grape cluster like blueberries everywhere. What felt like a too wet spring with too much rain has turned into a wonder season. Of course, the visitors are as happy as ever. One family came in from Alaska and picked twenty-two 12 pound buckets in what seemed like a few hours. They said it was the easiest picking they've ever had.
What makes this season extra special for me is the people who come to the farm. Meeting new people and reconnecting with past customers is the most fun I've had all year.
Thanks for coming to the Blueberry Patch.

Calm Sleeps The Sea
This poem is found hand written on the first page of a Bible owned by my Great, Great Grandfather, William D Smith, born 3-7-1828, died 7-21-1921. He survived the Civil War Battle of Gettysburg.
Written in his Bible are these words:
Calm sleeps the sea when storms are o'er
With bosom silent and serene
And but the plank upon the shore
Reveals that wreaks have been
To some frail thing like this maybe
Left floating on times silent tide
The sole remaining trace of me
To tell I lived and died.
